As the elevator doors closed, Alex couldn't shake the feeling of unease that had been plaguing him all day. Alex asked, his voice barely above a whisper. Slowly, Sarah turned her head towards him, her gaze meeting his for the first time since the transformation. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she tried to speak, her words coming out in broken gasps. "I... I don't know," she managed to say between ragged breaths. "It just... happened." The tension in the room was palpable, the air thick with uncertainty and fear. Alex didn't know what to do or say, but he knew one thing for sure - their friendship would never be the same again.
