Suddenly, she realized that the tiny figure was holding a piece of paper. Intrigued, she leaned in closer to get a better look. The paper seemed to be shaking, as if it were alive. The step mom's heart raced as she reached out a trembling hand to grab the paper. As soon as she touched it, the tiny figure let out a startled cry and darted away. She was left with the paper in her hand, still trying to make sense of what had just happened.

"It's about the note," she continued, reaching under his pillow to retrieve the tiny figure. "What is this?" she demanded, holding up the figure for him to see. He stammered, trying to come up with an explanation. "Is this...is this PTa?" she asked, her voice trembling. He nodded, tears welling up in his eyes. "Why did you write that note?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
